We have talked a lot about climate change on our program
and we have followed experts in their research about different
species and how they are adapting to the changes. Today
we have yet another connoisseur with us and he specializes
on plant species, Doctor Jim Thorne,
researcher at UC Davis will enlighten us on the subject.
Steven Donziger is a US attorney working
on the case against Chevron Oil company. Some recent developments
have occurred in the lawsuit that1s been going on for
15 years with Ecuador and we'll get caught up on the events.
William Olson is the Senior Vice President
of Business Development for ElectraTherm. From a background
of various entrepreneurial endeavors, William helped launch
a San Francisco energy company in 2001 selling and installing
residential and commercial solar PV systems. This gave
him a hands-on understanding of distributed energy and
on the path that led to ElectraTherm, a company that has
taken waste heat to another level.

The northward and inland movement of North American birds,
confirmed by thousands of citizen-observations, provides
new and powerful evidence that global warming is having
a serious impact on natural systems, according to new
analyses by Audubon scientists. Here to give us better
insight is Greg Butcher, Director of
Bird Conservation for the National Audobon society.

Sara Joy Steele have been working for
several year, documenting climate change with the aim
to understand global change through local people. They
have photographed semi-nomadic reindeer herders in Norway
and firefighters of the American West.
John Berkyto is the CTO and Managing
Director of ZED engines. As a former field technical manager
for both Ford and Honda, John has extensive power-train
expertise from compact cars to tractor-trailer trucks.
We'll hear about the ZED engine and what makes it different
from fuel cells, hybrids, biofuel or electric power.

Greg Reitman was one of the producers
for the movie "Fields of Fuel" which was last
years Sundance Film Festival 3audience award- film2. This
movie told a less known tale of the biodiesel engine,
how it is used but mostly where it could be used and isn1t..
It1s a story of petroleum, it1s a story of the car companies
and it is a hopeful, but frustrating tale of how bio-fuels
could replace oil while minimizing pollution and all of
the many, very bad things that come with the burning of
petroleum.
Andrew Nikiforuk is a journalist focusing
in on economics and the environment. He has written several
books prior to his current 3Tar Sands2 - a wake-up call
to Canada1s major export of oil, which the US consumes
much of. But the oils coming out of Alberta, Canada is
attached to an assault of its own..
